SAS Assembly votes Ľuboš Kľučár as its president

The members of the SAS Assembly gathered for its final session for the 2013-2017 term on the morning of 20 April 2017 at the Academy on Patrónka in Bratislava.
The SAS Annual Report for 2016 was discussed and the attendees heard the statement of the programme of the SAS Presidium at the close of its term by SAS President Prof. Mgr. Pavol Šajgalík, DrSc.
In the afternoon, the members of the SAS Assembly met for the first session of the 2017 – 2021 term, where academic communities of SAS scientific organizations voted in its members. The agenda of the meeting was the election of the SAS Assembly Committee as well as the SAS Assembly President.
The SAS Committee for the 2017-2021 term is comprised as follows:
First chamber: Katarína Gmucová, Fedor Gömory, Karol Nemoga, Michal Kadúc (representative of specialized SAS organizations).
Second chamber: Ján Gálik, Ľuboš Kľučár, Ľubor Koštál.
Third chamber: Zuzana Bartošová, Zuzana Kusá, Radoslav Passia.
The chairpersons of the chambers as voted by the Committee members are: Katarína Gmucová, Ľuboš Kľučár and Zuzana Kusá.
According to the Statute of the SAS Assembly, the Assembly President is elected by the members of the Assembly per a proposal from the Committee members, for one third of the term of office. Ľuboš Kľučár has been elected for the first third of the term.
The following order of rotation was approved during the vote: second, first, third chamber of the Assembly.
Mgr. Ľuboš Kľučár, PhD. is a scientist at the SAS Institute of Molecular Biology, where he currently works as scientific secretary.
In taking his position, Ľuboš Kľučár regards the task of the transition of SAS scientific organizations to public research institutions as the most important: "The SAS Assembly will participate heavily in this process, in the transition of all internal regulations and systems. I will try to help bring SAS to a successful goal. In addition there are regular agendas historically handled by the Chairman and the Committee of the Assembly. "
